Town of Newburgh Deputy Supervisor Scott Manley recently earned the Everyday Hero Award from the Kiwanis Club in Newburgh. The award presentation came during the organization’s 101st annual installation dinner at the Temple Hill Tavern in New Windsor.
Manley was recognized for his many years of public service, continuous support of local businesses, ensuring access to food, PPE/masks, and other necessities, and using his Facebook platform to keep the community informed and connected to much-needed resources during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In his Facebook posts informing the public of local happenings, Manley previously explained the need for himself and other elected officials to act as a “cheerleader for the community.”
Manley served the community for 25 years with the Town of Newburgh Police Department, retiring as a Sergeant in 2008.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Manley ensured that people in need of food, PPE/masks, and other necessities had access to them. He continues to inform the community about current events and vital resources.
Manley thanked the Kiwanis Club of Newburgh for the Everyday Hero Award. He also stated he is grateful to the Kiwanis Club for their dedication, generosity, and good work to improve the lives of others through altruistic and exemplary service.
