The City of Newburgh has hired six new police officers who will soon be protecting the city’s streets.
Joining the force are Magali Aguilar, Blaine Billings, Josiah Borden, Joshua Johnson, Oscar Mejia, and Jeffrey Woody.
Aguilar was inducted into the National Honor Society before graduating from Newburgh Free Academy in 2018. She went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Quinnipiac University.
Billings was a celebrated track star for Newburgh Free Academy until graduating in 2016. He went on to attend the University of Buffalo for the next four years.
Borden was a well-known athlete with the Newburgh Free Academy Varsity boys’ basketball team. He appeared in his senior year during the 2013-2014 season. Simultaneously, he also played for the Newburgh Zion Lions’ basketball team. Upon graduation, he attended SUNY Orange until 2018. He then went on to attend SUNY Ulster and played for the men’s basketball team.
The new officers will begin training at the Dutchess County Police Academy this Monday, March 20, 2023.
