HOH Students Participate in Memorial Day Activities

Students of the Horizons-on-the-Hudson Elementary School honored fallen heroes by marching in the City of Newburgh Memorial Day parade on Monday. In addition, all students in the school had a part in creating a Memorial Day float.

Students were asked to submit Memorial Day parade float designs that would honor our fallen heroes and represent their school. Elements from various designs were included in the final piece.

Third, fourth, and fifth grader students painted four flag faces and ten International Baccalaureate (IB) Learner Profile traits. Students from the pre-K classes added the stars to each flag. Kindergartners, first and second graders sandwiched two flag faces together with repurposed materials inside and stapled the edges.

Each child in the school wrote their name on a strip of yellow paper to attach as fringe to the school’s bubble letter: H-O-H. The completed elements from the float are now on display in the school’s auditorium/cafeteria for all students to see and enjoy.
