Slippery roads in western Orange County has resulted in a motor vehicle accident with serious injuries which may involve a fatality.
The Greenville and Slate Hill Fire Departments responded to a reported tractor trailer down an embankment on Interstate 84 shortly before 7:00pm tonight. The accident took place the area of milemarker 5.6 along the eastbound lanes coming down the Greenville Mountain between the old Exit 1 and Exit 2.
The incident commander arrived on the scene to find an individual with serious injuries. He also requested the New York State Police to respond to the scene and to expedite.
Radio reports indicate that the accident may now involve a fatality.
While plain rain continues falling in most of eastern Orange County, a wintry mix of snow, sleet, and rain is currently falling across western Orange County. Drivers are urged to proceed with extreme caution.
