Skoufis Joins with Local Organizations to Distribute Thanksgiving Meals to Families

New York State Senator James Skoufis joined forces with TD Bank, the Hudson Valley Food Bank, and four other local nonprofits to provide Thanksgiving meals to 100 families in need across Orange County.

Skoufis’ team began the project with a community canned good drive at their Newburgh office, along with several TD Bank locations throughout Orange County. TD Bank sponsored the purchase of 100 turkeys, which were then stored and transported by the Hudson Valley Food Bank before being distributed at the Senator’s giveaway event in Middletown on Tuesday.

RECAP, HONOR, ABCD, and Jewish Family Services each identified 25 families most in need for the holiday distribution.

“All of our neighbors deserve a warm meal and a sense of home during the holiday season, no matter what form ‘home’ takes,” said Skoufis. “This Thanksgiving, I’m reminded of my deep gratitude for the many community partnerships we’ve been blessed to develop, and for all the work our area non-profits do to keep local families housed, supported, and fed.”

Skoufis and his team also participated in a volunteer shift with Hudson Valley Food Bank the week prior, helping to sort and pack boxes of food for distribution across the region. The canned goods drive and turkey giveaway are an annual initiative by the Senator’s office.
