School SUV Plows Down, Kills Motorcyclist in Columbia County

A 59 year-old man out enjoying a motorcycle drive never made it home after being plowed down by a school vehicle carrying children, according to the New York State Police. The incident unfolded during broad daylight on Wednesday afternoon in Columbia County, located north of Dutchess County.

Craig A. McNulty, age 59 of Troy, NY, was reportedly traveling northbound on the Taconic State Parkway operating a 2018 BMW motorcycle. According to police, a school SUV was traveling eastbound on Post Hill Road when it crossed the Taconic State Parkway and struck the motorcycle.

The school SUV, belonging to the Taconic Hills Central District, was a 2019 Chevorlet Traverse being driven by Christine M. Costa, age 60 of Claverack, NY. Costa was transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. The three students on the bus were not injured.

McNulty was rushed to Columbia Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Police are continuing to investigate the fatal accident.
