A police officer with the Town of Montgomery Police Department was arrested for stalking today, the New York State Police announced.
Officer Kenneth Memmelaar, age 53 of Goshen, was taken into custody by the State Police for an alleged series of incidents that were reported to the State Police in Middletown.
Memmelaar was arrested in the Town of Montgomery and charged with Stalking in the 4th degree, a Class A misdemeanor. He was arraigned in the City of Middletown Court and was released. He is scheduled to re-appear in the Village of Chester Court on September 27, 2022 at 5:00 pm.
Memmelaar’s LinkedIn profile lists him as a firearm’s instructor and armorer for the utility company Entergy. It also lists him as a Montgomery police officer dating back to 2013, although public records show he began work in 2009.
According to public records, Memmelaar made $11,359 while working for the Montgomery Police Department in 2009. Records indicate that he had continuous employment since then and most recently earned $10,755 in 2021. He reportedly made $12,309 so far this year.
Police are not releasing the exact nature of the alleged stalking incident.
