Man Dies in Palisades Car Accident

The New York State Police are investigating a fatal, one-vehicle accident that occurred early this morning on the Palisades Parkway in Clarkstown.

At approximately 2:00am, first responders were dispatched to the accident scene near exit 7 in the southbound lane. Upon arrival, the Nanuet Fire Department attempted to extricate the operator of the vehicle. He was removed and pronounced deceased at the scene.

A police investigation revealed that the victim, Gustavo Merino-Moreno, age 30 from Brooklyn, was traveling southbound when the vehicle left the roadway off the west shoulder and struck a tree.

The investigation is ongoing. State Police investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the vehicle before the crash – a red, 2002 Chevorlet Silverado with South Carolina license plates – to contact NYSP Senior Investigator Carmen Goffredo or Investigator Eric Haydt.
