The Goldbacks Youth Football & Cheer League will kick off its season in just two weeks. Registration is still underway but will be ending soon.
The organization will offer a six-week flag football season beginning on Sunday, May 7, 2023. For boys, it includes four divisions open to those in grades K-8. For the first time, they are offering a girls only division open to those in grades 3-5. This season will be their fourth year offering flag football. This year’s enrollment is already up over 25%.
The league is open for boys and girls enrolled in the Newburgh Enlarged City School District. During the fall, they also offer tackle football and cheerleading.
Yesterday, the league hosted its Flag Football Player Showcase in New Windsor. Despite the pouring rain, over 120 young athletes turned out and showed off their skills.
Registration costs $100 per player for the full six weeks. The fee includes a jersey, a flag belt, and a trophy. At the end of the season, the division champions will earn rings. To register, visit www.youthgoldbacks.org/flag/
