The newly created Newburgh Free Academy girls’ flag football team honored its senior players during an event held last Friday.
The Senior Night marked the first such event for the new team. Graduating senior athletes Salma Martinez (center), Aliza Sanchez (linebacker), and Makayla Manso (quarterback / wide receiver) were recognized. Prior to their game against Minisink Valley, the seniors were gifted flowers and cards from their teammates and coaches.
According to the Newburgh Enlarged City School District, the team’s comradery is building amid its inaugural season. The athletes’ play continues to improve from game-to-game under the leadership of Head Coach Liam Henderson and Assistant Coach Jerry Ortiz.
