
A City of Newburgh man is in police custody after he allegedly raped a child.
Jamarr Smith, age 22 of the City of Newburgh, was arrested by the New York State Police Child Abuse Unit in Orange County. Police received a hotline report regarding the alleged rape and worked in conjunction with Orange County Child Protective Services and the City of Newburgh Police Department to investigate the case. The exact age of the child has not been disclosed by police.
As a result of the investigation, Smith was arrested and charged with one count of Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance, a Class C felony; one count of Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child, a Class D felony; one count of Possession of a Sexual Performance by a Child, a Class E felony; two counts of Rape in the 3rd degree, Class F felonies, and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A misdemeanor.
Smith also goes by aliases Sheesh Dior, Jay, and Dirty Dior.
Smith was arraigned in the Town of Newburgh Court before Judge Jude Martini. He was remanded to Orange County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.
