Man Struck by Car, Killed in Town of Newburgh

A pedestrian was struck by a car and killed this afternoon in the Town of Newburgh.

At 1:06pm, the Town of Newburgh Police Department, Town of Newburgh EMS, and the Cronomer Valley Fire Department rushed to the scene of an accident in which a pedestrian was struck in the area of Foam and Wash on North Plank Road.

EMS arrived on the scene and requested a medevac to be launched to airlift the patient to a trauma center. Despite the gusty winds and brutally cold weather, the helicopter was able to fly. The Good-Will Fire Department established a landing zone in the nearby Mid-Valley Mall parking lot, where the medevac landed.

Unfortunately, the gentleman tragically passed away before he could be airlifted.

The Plattekill Fire Department stood by to cover any additional calls in Cronomer Valley while they operated at the scene of the fatal accident.

The man’s name has not yet been released. Police are continuing to investigate the accident.
