Driver Airlifted from Serious Accident in Town of Newburgh

A driver was airlifted in serious condition after being involved in a car accident in the Town of Newburgh yesterday.

The Town of Newburgh Police Department, Town of Newburgh EMS, and the Cronomer Valley Fire Department were initially called for a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Gardnertown Road and Powder Mill Road yesterday. The accident was in the area of the Cronomer Hill Park.

The driver was operating a Mini-Cooper and struck a telephone pole near the intersection. The vehicle spun around and came to a rest on a nearby lawn.

The patient sustained serious injuries and was airlifted from the accident scene. LifeNet of New York landed in a nearby parking lot and rushed the patient to Westchester County Medical Center.

Central Hudson was called to the scene to replace the utility pole.

The Town of Newburgh Police Department is investigating the cause of the accident. The patient’s name or condition have not been released.
