NFA Cheer Team Earns Big Win in First Competition

The Newburgh Free Academy Competitive Cheerleading Team started off their season with Goldback pride during their first competition on Saturday.

The team squared off against schools from across the region in the Small Varsity D1 Division of a Section 9 competition held at the Minisink Valley High School. Newburgh secured a third place victory, bowing out only to first place Warwick and second place Union Endicott.

During the competition, Newburgh recognized their four senior competitors who will be graduating in just a few months. Those seniors are Rylee Merli, Isabella Tammone, Allison Shapiro, and Aliza Sanchez.

Newburgh’s Competitive Cheerleading Team is coached by Lauren Skinner-Dennis, Kristen Romanino-Brady, and Adelaide Burns.
