Three Victims Fall into Icy Water on Beaver Dam Lake

Local fire departments and emergency medical services rushed to Beaver Dam Lake late this afternoon to rescue three individuals who had fallen into icy water.

Just before 4:30pm, the Salisbury Mills Fire Department was dispatched to an ice rescue on Beaver Dam Lake in the area of 44 Lake Road. A dive team from the nearby Monroe Fire Department was called to the scene. Washingtonville firefighters were dispatched to respond with a boat while the Orange Lake Fire Department was called with a hovercraft.

As first responders zipped around rush hour traffic hurrying to the scene, Orange County 911 dispatchers reported that three males were in the water holding onto a kayak. A medevac helicopter was put on standby.

The Salisbury Mills Fire Department’s assistant chief arrived on the scene. Soon after, all three victims were reportedly pulled out of the water. Neighboring fire departments were cancelled while Salisbury Mills firefighters continued to operate on the scene.

Emergency medical service crews evaluated all three patients. Their conditions are unknown due to medical privacy laws.
