The New Windsor Recreation Department will once again provide a winter full of fun for young athletes, Recreation Director Matthew Veronesi has announced. Recreation officials are teaming up with professional instructors to help guide the players.
Professional instructors from Quickstrike FC and their high school players are once again teaming up with the New Windsor Recreation Department to provide area youth with a dash of soccer fundamentals mixed in with soccer games.
The soccer program will meet on Wednesday nights beginning on January 4, 2023, and will continue for eight weeks through February 22, 2023. The teams will be broken down by age groups. Ages 2-4 (Born to Strike) will meet from 5:00pm to 5:45pm; Ages 5-6 (Little Strikers) will meet from 6:00pm to 7:00pm; Ages 7-12 (Quickstrikers 1) will meet from 7:00pm to 8:00pm; and ages 13-17 (Quickstrikers 2) will meet from 8:00pm to 9:00pm.
The price for the soccer program is $65 for New Windsor residents and $75 for non-residents.
Professional instructors from Sky Hawks Sports Academy will once again team up with the New Windsor Recreation Department for an eight-week basketball program. The league will focus on teaching sportsmanship and teamwork, as well as the fundamentals of passing, shooting, ball handling, rebounding, and defense. Each week will include skill-based instruction as well as small sided scrimmages.
The basketball program will meet on Thursday nights from January 5, 2023 through February 23, 2023. Ages 6-7 will play from 5:30pm to 6:30pm; Ages 8-10 will play from 6:35pm to 7:35pm; and ages 11-14 will play from 7:45pm through 9:00pm.
The fee for the basketball program is $85 for New Windsor residents and $95 for non-residents.
All of the soccer and basketball games will be played at the Vail’s Gate Elementary School.
