The National Weather Service has issued Winter Weather Advisories for several counties across the region.
For Orange County, Dutchess, and eastern Ulster Counties, the advisory is in effect from 10:00am on Sunday until 7:00am Monday. If the so-called experts are correct, the area will receive 3″ to 5″ of snow.
For western Ulster County, the advisory is in effect from 5:00am Sunday through 7:00am Monday. Total snow accumulations in those areas are expected to reach 3-6″, with localized amounts of 8″ across the higher terrain.
For Sullivan County, the advisory has been issued for 5:00am Sunday through 10:00am Monday. Total snow accumulations of 3-5″ are forecast, with up to 6″ in the higher elevations.
The most hazardous travel conditions are expected Sunday afternoon and evening, when snowfall rates may reach 1/2″ to 1″ per hour, the National Weather Service says.
