Two-Alarm Fire Burning in City of Newburgh Apartment Building

Firefighters from multiple agencies are currently battling a two-alarm fire in a four-story apartment building the City of Newburgh.

At approximately 7:45pm tonight – Saturday, November 5, 2022, the City of Newburgh Fire Department was dispatched to a reported building fire at 33 South Miller Street. The fire scene is located north of Broadway between Dubois Street and the Department of Motor Vehicles building.

The City of Newburgh Fire Department’s incident commander arrived on the scene to discover an active building fire and transmitted a second alarm. A pumper from the West Point Fire Department hustled over Storm King Mountain and into the scene while the Air Guard fire Department from Stewart Airport also raced in to help.

The nearby Middlehope and Cronomer Valley Fire Departments have been notified to cover any other calls for service in the city.

The apartments in 33 South Miller Street contain six bedrooms and is listed as being 2,394 square feet. It is connected to 31 South Miller Street, which contains an additional six bedrooms and is listed as being an additional 2,379 square feet.
