Super Bowl 31 champion Gary Lee Brown, author of Reflections of a Champion, visited the Town of Newburgh for a book signing last week.
Brown appeared at the Barnes & Noble Bookstore on Route 300. He was welcomed by Newburgh Town Supervisor Gil Piaquadio and Deputy Town Supervisor Scott Manley.
Brown’s book, which was published by Page Publishing, is a composite of his life experiences and empowers readers to overcome obstacles faced in life.
A New York native, Brown graduated from Brentwood High School in Long Island and achieved NCAA All American status at Nassau Community College in 1992. After transferring to Georgia Tech, he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1994 and acquired by the Green Bay Packers that same year.
In 1997, Brown won Super Bowl 31 with the Green Bay Packers.
In 2009, a work injury sustained by Brown led to his paralysis. By 2011, he joined Big Brothers Big Sisters and began philanthropy work. He also created a Foundation called Dream68, which serves underprivileged youth across the nation.
Today, Brown empowers others to overcome any obstacle through positivity and giving back.
