Many parents, children, and homeowners are watching the weather forecast closely as trick-or-treaters prepare to his the streets on Halloween night this Monday. Trick-or-treaters should head out early as a chance of showers will increase later in the night, although the chance is not significant.
Due to the possibility of rain, the City of Newburgh has already rescheduled its Halloween trunk-or-treat event (story here) to avoid the risk that children might miss the popular event.
Current forecast trends, according to data provided by Vail’s Gate Tower, a weather tower operated by The Newburgh News, MMC, show a chance of rain showers on Halloween. As daytime highs soar to a comfortable 65 degrees, a slight 20% chance of rain showers will begin after 2:00pm. The chance of rain showers increases to 40% after 8:00pm as temperatures drop into the 50s, which is still quite seasonable for Halloween night.
The chance of showers is still not a guarantee. Forecasters from the National Weather Service in Upton, NY are calling for a “slight chance” of showers beginning in the afternoon as moisture moves in from the south. However, forecasters explain that most model solutions are keeping much of the rain well west of the area.
Halloween will not be a washout, but there is a chance of a few passing sprinkles.
The live radar and weather forecast can always be seen at Vail’s Gate Tower.
