A pedestrian was left seriously injured after being struck by a taxi cab in front of the Hudson Valley Funeral Home in New Windsor late tonight.
At approximately 10:15 pm on Sunday night, the New Windsor Volunteer Ambulance Corp., Vail’s Gate Fire Department, and New Windsor Police Department hurried to the scene of a reported pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the area of Route 94 and Cedar Lane. The intersection is near Squire Village and the former Destinta Theater.
Paramedics on the scene began providing emergency aid and requested a medevac to airlift the patient. The New Windsor Fire Department was dispatched to the parking lot of the former Destinta Theater to establish a landing zone for the incoming helicopter.
Unfortunately, the patient could not be airlifted and was instead rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital by ambulance. Several paramedics and EMTs from other ambulances remained on board to help.
The New Windsor Police Department transported the taxi driver to St. Luke’s Hospital to be evaluated. It is not yet known which taxi company was involved.
