A new discount store is coming to the Town of Newburgh and will celebrate its grand opening this Saturday.
Ocean State Job Lot, a leading discount closeout retailer with 15 other stores across the Northeast, will celebrate the grand opening of its store at 88 North Plank Road in the Town of Newburgh this Saturday, March 25, 2023, from 9:00am to 12:00pm.
Ocean State Job Lot purchased the entire plaza from The Livianos Group, LLC in early 2022. The plaza was the site of the old Shoprite plaza and several smaller stores at the corner of North Plank Road and Chestnut Lane.
In December of 2022, the new owners opened the discount store in the same portion of the plaza that Shoprite formerly occupied.
This Saturday’s grand opening event is open to the public and will include a speaking program with local dignitaries, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a presentation of a pallet of non-perishable foods to the Union Presbyterian Church Food Pantry, and a donation of housewares to the YIT Foundation.
Town of Newburgh Supervisor Gil Piaquadio, Deputy Town Supervisor Scott Manley, Councilwoman Elizabeth “Betty” Greene, Councilman Anthony LoBiondo, Councilman Paul Ruggiero, Town Clerk Lisa Vance Ayers, Planning Board member Stephanie DeLuca, and other dignitaries will be in attendance.
The public will also be able to enjoy food trucks, fun activities, and giveaways.
