Several area fire departments quickly knocked down a house fire on a rural area on Route 207 this afternoon.
At approximately 2:50pm, the Campbell Hall Fire Department was called to a stove fire in a kitchen at 2744 Route 207. The house, built in 1923, is 1,000 square feet and contains two bedrooms.
The incident commander arrived on the scene to find smoke coming from the house. He summonsed help from neighboring fire departments.
The Vail’s Gate Fire Department responded with a FAST Team, which is a specially trained team tasked with rescuing any other firefighters who become injured or trapped inside the fire building.
Along with Vail’s Gate, the Salisbury Mills Fire Department responded with a pumper tanker. The Maybrook Fire Department was called to assist with a full response.
In less than 30 minutes, firefighters knocked down the fire and began overhauling the scene.
