Crews will replace multiple gas lines throughout the City of Newburgh beginning next month, City officials announced today. Crews may need to enter homes and businesses to perform some of the work.
Central Hudson crews will work with Precision Pipeline Solutions in an effort to improve the safety, reliability, and performance of the natural gas distribution system in the City of Newburgh. The project includes replacement of natural gas mains and service lines to address and modernize aging infrastructure. As part of this improvement initiative, Central Hudson will be replacing the main lines in the street and service lines that connect to individual homes and businesses.
Replacement of approximately 3,700 feet of gas lines in the City of Newburgh is formally set to begin in March and the project is estimated to take four months to complete. Construction trenching will occur along:
• North St, at the intersection of N Plank Rd
• North St, between Powell Ave and Liberty St
• Stern Dr, at the intersection of North St
• Central Ave, between North St and Elmwood Pl
• Balmville Rd, between North St and Interstate 84
• Liberty St, at the intersection of North St
• Leroy Pl, at the intersection of Liberty St
• Park Pl, at the intersection of Grand Ave
• Elmwood Pl, between Powell Ave and Liberty St
Any property owner who will be affected will be contacted by Precision Pipeline Solutions will contact you to schedule an appointment for its replacement. The entire process requires work to be performed both inside and outside of homes or businesses.
Natural gas meters currently located indoors will be relocated by Central Hudson or a private contractors to an outdoor location to improve future access to this equipment by utility personnel. All Central Hudson employees and contractors display identification badges.
Any disruptions to properties will be restored by utility crews, professional landscape, and/or paving contractors.
