Balmville School Honor Society Hosts Food Drive for Community

Students and staff from the Balmville Elementary School in the Newburgh Enlarged City School District joined forces with the Walden Savings Bank to hold a food drive for the holiday season.

The drive was hosted by the Balmville School’s National Elementary Honor Society. Between the school-wide food drive and the Walden Savings Bank’s food drive, the good Samaritans were able to donate food baskets to 14 families this holiday season.

The baskets included food items that were collected during the food drive. In addition, the Walden Savings Bank collected $437 in donations that was used to purchase perishable items such as ham, potatoes, and carrots.

In addition to the food drive, the Honor Society collected hats, scarves, mittens, and socks. Those items were also distributed to families.
