Resorts World held a ribbon cutting ceremony this morning to celebrate the opening of their newest electronic casino at the Newburgh Mall.
Resorts World Hudson Valley is now open in the former Bon-Ton store at the mall. It will be open from 8:00am to 2:00am, seven days a week.
Table games are not available at this branch of the casino chain. This casino offers slot machines and other electronic games. Those wishing to play table games must still travel to another location.
The casino is warning customers that they will not accept player cards from their other locations, such as Resorts World Catskills or Resorts World New York City. Players with membership cards from their sister casinos must create a new account with Resorts World Hudson Valley and start from scratch collecting points. If a customer of Resorts World Catskills has a high level tier status, such as a silver or gold card, it will not be recognized at Resorts World Hudson Valley.
Casino management stated they hope to revitalize the Newburgh Mall and attract new tenants. “What a gift to spend some time this holiday season welcoming guests and visitors to Resorts World Hudson Valley,” gushed Robert DeSalvio, the President of Genting Americas East, which owns the casino.
New York State Assemblyman James Skoufis was among those in attendance at today’s ribbon cutting. He has been working on bringing the casino to Orange County for the last four years. “Yes, the house always wins but, with a project like this, the community also always wins,” he said.
Resorts World received widespread publicity earlier this month when a wall collapsed at their Catskills casino and injured multiple people in what was determined to be a “mass casualty incident” (story here). Victims were airlifted to trauma centers while others were rushed to hospitals by ambulances.
