The Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson reported late this afternoon that a water main has broken in the area of the Cornwall Hospital.
At approximately 4:45pm, the Cornwall-on-Hudson Water Department was on the scene of a water main break at the intersection of Chadeayne Avenue and Jaeger Drive. Village employees will be working throughout the evening to make emergency repairs.
Village officials reported that every effort is being made to avoid water disruptions to surrounding areas, but it may become unavoidable. Village residents are being urged to make provisions in case a service disruption occurs.
The water main break comes as temperatures have remained below freezing since Friday’s rain and wind storm. Tonight’s temperature is expected to drop into the mid-teens and only rebound to the freezing mark tomorrow afternoon. The cold snap is forecast to break on Wednesday as temperatures return to around 40°F.
