New Windsor Menorah Lighting Receives Large Turnout

The Town of New Windsor’s annual Menorah lighting for Hanukkah drew a large turnout on Tuesday evening.

The Town Recreation Department led the event, which featured several activities in addition to the lighting. Rabbi Shmuel Serebryaanski from Chabad of Easter Orange County lit the Menorah.

The Vail’s Gate Fire Department conducted a chocolate coin (Gelt) drop from atop their ladder truck for all the children in attendance. Bill Bywater created an ice sculpture of a Menorah that was also lit.

Following the conclusion of the outdoor activities, those in attendance visited the Community Center for donuts and latkes. They all had a chance to socialize with festive music while children completed craft projects.

“It was a wonderful night for all who attended,” observed Recreation Director Matt Veronesi.
