New Windsor resident Christian Delgado will soon be named an Eagle Scout after working on a project to help residents and fellow youth while bringing a new idea to the Town’s parks.
Delgado, a member of the Boy Scouts Troop 4027, recently completed his Eagle Project after building four “Little Free Library” boxes in the town parks. Delgado installed two boxes at the Kristi Babcock Memorial Park on Mount Airy Road, plus two additional boxes at San Giacomo Park.
“Little Free Libraries” are boxes where people can donate used or new books and select books that others have donated. It equates to a free book swap.
“I have seen first-hand that the boxes at both parks have been getting a lot of use,” explained New Windsor Recreation Director Matthew Veronesi. “Christian is a fine young man who impressed me from the first time he reached out about wanting to do his project and showed complete professionalism the entire length of the project which took a few months from the planning stages until completion.”
Delgado will be presented with his Eagle Scout rank during a ceremony at the Cronomer Valley firehouse on Saturday, January 7, 2023.
“Congratulations, Christian, on completion of your project and your Eagle Scout rank, and thank you very much for leaving New Windsor with a project that will last a long time and get much use,” Delgado concluded.
