Firefighters rescued the driver of a jet fuel tanker that rolled over next to a runway on the grounds of Stewart International Airport today.
The Stewart Air National Guard Fire Department was dispatched to a reported tanker rollover with entrapment on an access road that runs parallel with one of the runways. The truck rolled off the road and onto a grassy area, landing on its side.
According to the hazardous material placard, the tanker was carrying jet fuel. Firefighters set up devices known as booms to contain any possible fuel leakage.
Foam trucks and other fire apparatus responded with a crew of firefighters. Quality Towing responded with two heavy wreckers plus additional equipment to upright the truck.
There is no word if the driver was injured.
