City of Newburgh to Honor 2022 Human Rights Heroes

The City of Newburgh Human Rights Commission will mark Human Rights Day this Saturday by recognizing three “Human Rights Heroes.”

Linda Jansen, Dr. Benilda Jones, and Amancio Salazar will be honored with the annual recognition for their consistent work to end hunger, stand up for civil rights, and combat poverty in the City of Newburgh and beyond.

The event will be held at the Newburgh Enlarged City School District Auditorium at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 10, 2022. The celebration is free and is open to the public.

The City of Newburgh Human Rights Commission’s celebration coincides with the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), first adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948. The UDHR is a landmark document that ushered in an era of expanded human rights for all peoples.
