MSMC, Local Businesses Hold Job Fair

Mount Saint Mary College’s Career Center and local companies gave business students internship, career, and networking opportunities at the Business Job Fair held recently.

The event was held in the Aquinas Atrium. A total of 18 future employers attended, ranging from Spectrum to CrystalRun Healthcare. They offered a variety of part-time jobs, internships, and full-time opportunities in disciplines like Accounting, Business Management and Administration, Finance, Healthcare Management, Marketing, and Sports Management. The event also introduced students to a variety of companies that hire jobs or internships related to a student’s major area of study, and gave them the opportunity to learn more about job titles, job requirements, the application process and how to network.

“Through the help of the Career Center, I was able to get an internship with JGS CPA, P.C., and they hired me once I had finished my bachelor’s degree,” said Matthew Connoly ‘21, a Senior Associate at PKF O’Connor Davies. “This year JGS merged with PKF O’Connor Davies, which is how I became a part of their organization.”

Connoly also worked with the Tax Aide program through the Mount, which gave him experience preparing tax returns for different clients and ultimately helped when he had begun his internship and job.

“I would say to not be afraid to try different internships and experiences,” advised Connoly. “So when you are ready to begin your career you can get a position that you know you are going to enjoy and be proud of.”

The Career Center is often credited by Mount graduates for providing powerful, proven, and practical tools to help shape their post-graduate portfolio. More than just a student program, the Career Center provides students and alumni with lifelong tools for success and advancement.
