The Town of Cornwall Police Department has received a $50,000 grant toward the purchase of a heavy-duty rescue vehicle. The grant money was presented to Cornwall Police Chief Todd Hazard today by New York State Assemblyman Colin Schmitt.
Hazard thanked Schmitt for providing the grant. “Having a heavy-duty rescue vehicle will help not only in our response times in emergencies but will provide an enhanced tool helping to protect and serve our community,” Hazard explained. “This is another example of Assemblyman Colin Schmitt understanding the needs of and backing the police.”
Schmitt reiterated his anti-crime stance during a time when crime sprees are running ramped across New York State. Some pro-crime politicians have doubled down on letting dangerous suspects go free without bail in hopes that criminals will show integrity and appear in court sometime in the future.
“Now more than ever we must be funding our police departments and fully supporting the men and women who wear blue serving to keep our communities safe,” Schmitt declared. “Thank you to Chief Hazard and your officers for all you do for the community. I will always put our local cops first and keep delivering for my neighbors in Cornwall.”
Dorey Houle, a Town of Monroe Councilwoman who is running for State Senate, serves on Schmitt’s Local Government and Grants Advisory Group. She played a role in presenting Cornwall with the grant money. “We must always fund and support our police here in the Hudson Valley,” she stated.
Orange County Legislator Kevin Hines added, “This $50,000 grant will positively impact our town and our police department. I will continue to partner with the Assemblyman on support for our local first responders.”
