Disgraced ex-Governor Andrew Cuomo recently filed an ethics complaint against Attorney General Letitia James. This is the pot calling the kettle unethical. It is a move typical of the narcissist who ruled with a technique of “do as I say, not as I do.”
James launched an investigation into the perverted acts alleged against her fellow Democrat before he abruptly resigned in disgrace. Although most Democrats and Republicans had increasingly become fed up with Cuomo, it took James to finally take down the tyrant. At the time, some speculated that James had an agenda and was trying to oust her competition so she could run for governor. However, this was clearly untrue since she is staying put in a position clearly suited for her.
In the beginning of his doomed political career, Cuomo once had a promising future ahead of him. As New York’s Attorney General, he was tough on crime, appeared to be a straight shooter, and was likeable in front of the camera. When he ran for governor, many were convinced he was using it as a stepping stone en route to becoming President of the United States. He was destined to become the next John F. Kennedy. So what happened to this rising, political superstar?
Perhaps the power went to his head. Perhaps he sank into the bottomless swamp of Albany corruption. Perhaps he began dabbling in drugs again. Maybe all of the above. Nobody knows for certain what happened, but we all watched in horror as he began destroying the great State of New York. He began acting like a madman who could not be stopped – until James stepped in.
In a twist from once being tough on crime, Cuomo flip-flopped and bizarrely became pro-crime. During his reign of terror, he released tens of thousands of convicts and closed 18 state penitentiaries. Once the newly released convicts began wreaking havoc in public, Cuomo passed “bail reform” legislation which prevented police from putting criminals in jail for new crimes. This resulted in anarchy on the New York City streets, which still continues to this day. At one point, riots engulfed the city streets, but police were not allowed to bring any of the rioters to jail. At the most, police could only issue tickets to the rioters as they continued breaking into stores and lighting cars on fire.
The power to promote crime seemed to make Cuomo so giddy that he bizarrely began treating the criminal justice system like a bizarre game show. New York State was awarded $7 million from large bank settlements. Cuomo used that money to reward convicts with participation prizes – free college courses. He then issued an executive order which allowed ex-convicts to vote while on parole. All during that same time, Cuomo mysteriously pardoned dangerous cop-killer Herman Bell from a maximum security penitentiary. When Cuomo later resigned in disgrace, he gave law-abiding New Yorkers one last middle finger by granting clemency to a whole slew of convicted murderers.
Cuomo’s hatred for law enforcement was so intense that he became furious when he learned his adult daughter was dating a New York State Trooper. Once Cuomo found out, the Trooper was abruptly transferred to the Canadian border. An investigative report was released by the State Inspector General last month, but it did not address if Cuomo gave the orders. However, the State Police Superintendent conceded that Cuomo was “very upset.” After Cuomo’s ouster, the Trooper was promoted to Sergeant.
Cuomo began going haywire long before the COVID struck.
In 2014, Cuomo mysteriously disbanded the Moreland Commission which was tasked with investigating public corruption. After the corruption fighters were out of the way, the loose cannon began free firing.
In 2016, North Carolina passed a law in their state that Cuomo did not like, even though it had nothing to do with New York. In retaliation, Cuomo banned his New York State employees from traveling to North Carolina.
In 2019, Cuomo enacted a sadistic state law allowing men to use women’s public restrooms (and vice versa) in all state-run facilities, including colleges and highway rest stops. For example, a man (without any transgender procedures) could simply claim he identifies as a woman and would legally be permitted to enter college shower rooms to watch all of the young women. Under Cuomo’s law, if a woman complained about the man showering with her, the woman would be sexually harassing the man.
Shortly after all this ruckus, the COVID began. Cuomo locked down the entire state with the exception of essential services. Once the roads were empty and everyone was home, Cuomo monopolized on his captive audience. He put himself on television every day to dictate the daily news to all those he reigned over. He continuously patted himself on the back and told the public what a great governor he is.
Just before Thanksgiving of 2020, Cuomo issued an Executive Order prohibiting private residences from having more than ten people inside their home for any reason. Cuomo didn’t believe that rule should apply to him, so he continued making plans for his own Thanksgiving bash. Once the public became outraged over his “rules for thee, not for me” stance, he resorted to his typical antics of playing the victim. He claimed it was okay for him to break his own law because it was for his mother and she is elderly. He ended up canceling his party amid public outcry.
Around the same time frame, countless sexual harassment allegations poured in about Cuomo. Despite his iron-fist, zero-tolerance policies opposing sexual harassment in the workplace, Cuomo defended his actions. He blamed his Italian heritage and said he was just trying to be friendly. As his name became even more tarnished, his vaccine distribution leader reportedly called several Democratic county executives to gauge their loyalty to Cuomo. One Democratic county executive believed the writing was on the wall that if they opposed Cuomo, their counties would suffer and not receive vaccinations. As such, a preliminary ethics complaint was lodged against Cuomo.
Shortly after this news broke, the public became grew increasingly enraged by Cuomo’s nursing home scandal. Under Cuomo’s directions, over 9,000 patients who were positive for COVID were packed into nursing homes which resulted in widespread deaths. Over two months later, Cuomo rescinded his orders. He then resorted to playing the blame game, pointing fingers at the media for reporting on it and making it a political issue against him. Cuomo and his cronies were than accused of doctoring numbers to hide the death tolls.
Then, Cuomo had the audacity to write a book patting himself on the back for being a great governor. He was accused of using State resources to write the book, including many hours of work by members of his staff. Cuomo argued that all of his employees did the work voluntarily.
Let us not forget about the time Cuomo allegedly threatened New York State Assemblyman Ron Kim, a fellow Democrat, for opposing Cuomo’s nursing home scandal during COVID. Kim was in the middle of bathing his young children when Cuomo reportedly called him at home. Kim’s wife said she heard Cuomo screaming through the phone. The lunatic was allegedly threatening to destroy Kim’s political career and tell the “whole world what a bad person you are” if Kim continued opposing Cuomo. “You will be destroyed,” Cuomo allegedly raged. New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio, also a Democrat, defended Kim and said this was normal behavior for Cuomo.
There are far too many other instances of questionable behavior to mention. But if all these examples do not imply unethical behavior, nothing will.
This is why James issued a scathing report on Cuomo shortly before he resigned from office. As usual, Cuomo has been playing victim and blaming everyone else for his woes. Following his sexual abuse scandals, he blamed everyone else except for himself: The victims; his Italian heritage; cancel culture; politics; and now, the Attorney General for issuing a public report about his investigation which he feels made him look bad.
No, Andy – you made yourself look bad.
The disgraced ex-Governor now looks like a pigpen. He is homeless and shacks up with random friends and family members. He is unemployed and grasping at straws to get his old life back. During his last birthday, one of his daughters was the sole person who attended the sad and lonely party.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall, but it still has not humbled him. Cuomo’s ego still won’t let him see the error of his ways, as evidenced by his latest finger-pointing at James for making him look bad.
