A Connecticut man felt the need to take a drunken mid-afternoon drive down the interstate with his children in the car, the New York State Police said.
At approximately 1:33 pm yesterday, a state trooper reportedly observed a 2003 Ford Taurus traveling eastbound on Interstate 84 in the Town of Newburgh in violation of numerous vehicle and traffic laws. The trooper pulled over the vehicle and identified the driver as Segundo Chuguiloja, age 36 from Torrington, Connecticut.
As the trooper was interviewing the driver, it was determined that Chuquiloja did not have a valid driver’s license. The trooper also determined that Chuquiloja appeared to be impaired by alcohol. Police reported his blood alcohol content to be .13%.
The trooper observed three minors in the vehicle. Chuquiloja was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated under Leandra’s Law.
Chuquiloja was given a ticket and released. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Newburgh Court on October 17, 2022.
