The Newburgh Free Library recently celebrated its ten-year anniversary at their Newburgh Mall location in the Town of Newburgh. Library officials are currently attempting to find a new location after being given the boot from their current storefront by the Newburgh Mall.
Library Director Mary Lou Carolan was joined by Town of Newburgh Councilman Scott Manley, New York State Assemblymen Jonathan Jacobson and Colin Schmitt, and other special guest for the milestone celebration at their Town of Newburgh Branch.
Live cello music was provided by Alex Prizgintas. Those in attendance also enjoyed desserts from Sandy’s Cookie Kitchen. Therapy dogs from Our Tail Waggin paid a visit.
“It was a great way for us to celebrate the success of the branch and the patrons and staff who’ve helped us make so many memories there,” Carolan observed.
The Newburgh Mall is forcing the library out of their current location. Library officials are working to figure out the best way to continue offering branch services in the Town of Newburgh. They are currently exploring options that have been suggested by patrons and community members. Carolan thanked the community goodwill for their input and patience as they figure out their next step.
“It’s an honor to serve you all,” Carolan stated.
