Local Father Offers Reward in 9W/84 Hit & Run

A local father is offering a reward for anyone who can identify the driver of a vehicle that struck his daughter’s car and fled the scene earlier this week.

Paul Comeau reported that his daughter was at the bottom of the Interstate 84 eastbound exit ramp onto Route 9W when the driver of a pick-up truck rear-ended his daughter and fled the scene. The hit-and-run took place at approximately 7:20 am on Monday, August 15, 2022, directly across from the former Joann’s Fabrics, which is now the Newburgh Vintage Emporium.

The truck has been identified as black in color. It is possibly a Dodge Ram or a Chevy Silverado. The truck has moderate front-end damage from the collision.

Comeau reported that his daughter is bruised and sore. He is offering a reward for anyone who has information to identify the pick-up truck or its driver that was involved. He can be reached at (914) 456-2436.

The Newburgh News is working with state officials to obtain video footage from a nearby traffic camera, but will not accept reward money if the vehicle is identified. Check back for updates.
