Horizons Pre-K Students Recognize Cafeteria Workers

As part of School Lunch Hero Day, students in Ms. Harding’s Pre-K class at Horizons on the Hudson Elementary School in the Newburgh Enlarged City School District highlighted the cafeteria staff.

Harding’s class created cards for their “school lunch heroes” and gave them treats to snack on.

School Lunch Hero Day was intended to showcase the different school lunch providers who prepare food for every child who comes through the cafeteria. Lunch workers are tasked with preparing healthy meals for students, adhering to strict nutrition standards, navigating student food allergies, and offering service with a smile.

For many children, the cafeteria is the first place they enter on a school day. While serving up these healthy meals, the “school lunch hero” has more than nutrition on their minds.  The well-being of every child is important to them.  Keeping students safe, happy and providing them with healthy and delicious food is their priority.
