Newburgh Enlarged City School District librarian Michell Wright Jumpp, from Horizons-on-the-Hudson Elementary School, was recently named the 2021 NYLA School Librarian of the Year. Then, she received yet another honor when she was presented with Senator Sean Ryan’s Award for Outstanding Librarian for the Mid-Hudson Region during a ceremony in Albany last weekend.
National Library Week began on Sunday, April 3, 2022. During that time, Senator Ryan recognized outstanding librarians who go above and beyond to serve their communities. One librarian was selected from each of the 10 regions of New York State. Each honoree received a special recognition and a framed New York State Senate Proclamation.
