Heritage Students Collecting Donations For Church

Six years ago, a group of students from the Newburgh Enlarged City School District’s Heritage Middle School developed the concept of H.O.P.E. (Helping Our People Everywhere).

When it first originated, students began collecting gently used clothing, as well as canned and gourmet goods. All items collected by the students were sorted and then donated to the St. George’s Episcopal Church in Newburgh.

Now, the program has grown and continues accepting donations on a year-round basis. Donations are collected in Room 315 at the Heritage Middle School. Anyone who is able to donate is encouraged to do so.

Mr. Porpora credits the support and increasing generosity of students and their families, as well as faculty and staff within Heritage for an increase in amount of donations, but also in quality of donations.
