Brenda Joyce Duffie of Mountainville, NY passed away on May 7, 2023 at the Westchester Medical Center/ Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY. She was 75 years old.
Born on August 14, 1947, in Newburgh, NY, she was the daughter of Martha and Glenn Emory.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Ray Duffie; a brother Gary; a nephew Tyler; and her cousin Larry Severo.
She was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and the State University College at New Paltz. She received her degree in elementary education and did her student teaching in the Enlarge Newburgh City School District. She worked for the USPS Distribution Center at Stewart Airport and was a co-owner and employee of Ray L. Duffie Electric before retiring. She was also a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she volunteered in the Nearly New Shoppe and taught 5th and 6th grade Sunday school with her husband.
A visitation will be held at Hudson Valley Funeral Home 239 Quassaick Avenue New Windsor, NY on Tuesday May 16, 2023, from 10:00am – 12:00pm. Funeral service will follow visitation. Burial will immediately follow in Woodlawn Cemetery New Windsor, NY.
The family would like to thank all medical staff at Westchester Medical Center, Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital, and the entire staff of Hudson Valley Hospice for their treatment, care and concern.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Shriners Hospital for Children.
