One Murdered, Another Critical in Early Morning Shooting in City of Newburgh

A person was murdered and a second person is in critical condition following a shooting in the City of Newburgh early this morning.

Shortly after 8:00am, the City of Newburgh Police Department responded to a call for multiple gunshots fired near the corner of Lander and Farrington Streets, located downtown between St. Luke’s Hospital and the Newburgh Free Library.

One person was killed by the gunfire. A second person was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital by Mobile Life Support Services and is reported to be in critical condition.

Family members of one of the victims assembled outside of St. Luke’s Hospital.

The New York State Police are assisting in the investigation. The incident is still unfolding and no further details are yet available.
