The Newburgh Free Academy boys’ track team put Newburgh on the map again after earning a fourth place finish at the Beach Run Invitational in Myrtle Beach. The Goldbacks secured first and second place victories in multiple divisions.
The multi-state competition was held during Spring Break and included teams from Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, Delaware, Tennessee, and Virginia. In total, 28 teams competed in the tournament.
Newburgh competed with 15 students. They clinched first place and second place in two separate 400m IH competitions. They also earned second place finishes in the 4x400m relay and the 4x800m relay.
Additionally, Newburgh ranked fifth in the 110m HH, the 4x400m relay “B”, and the 4x200m relay team. They secured sixth place finishes in the 110m HH, 800m run, and 400m dash.
