Cardinal Dolan Visits Cornwall-on-Hudson for Vigil Mass

Parishioners of the St. Thomas of Canterbury Church had a special treat late yesterday afternoon.

Timothy Cardinal Dolan, the Archbishop of New York, visited the church yesterday afternoon to join the Vigil Mass of Palm Sunday. The mass was held on Saturday, April 1, 2023, and began at 4:30pm.

In the Catholic faith, a vigil mass is held during the night leading to a Sunday. The vigil mass was held last night in honor of Palm Sunday, which is today. Palm Sunday marks the first day of the Holy Week preceding Easter.

Following the mass, His Eminence hosted a reception in the St. Thomas School gymnasium to thank those who donated to the Cardinal’s Appeal. All of the St. Thomas parishioners were invited to attend. The mass and reception were also attended by members of the Knights of Columbus Council 7460 from Cornwall-on-Hudson.

St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson and St. Joseph Church in New Windsor are both part of the St. Marianne Cope Parish.
