City of Newburgh Man Admits to Raping Child

A creep from the City of Newburgh will likely head to prison after pleading guilty to raping a child.

Eric Vasquez, age 32 of the City of Newbrugh, pled guilty in Orange County Court to raping a child less under the age of 13 years old. Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler made the announcement this afternoon.

Vasquez pled guilty to Rape in the 1st degree and Criminal Sexual Act in the 1st degree. He admitted in court that he engaged in sexual intercourse as well as oral sexual conduct with the child. The victim’s exact age is unknown, although the child had not yet reached his/her teenage years.

Hoovler explained that under the plea agreement, it is anticipated that Vasquez will be sentenced to 15 years in the state penitentiary plus an additional 10 years of parole. He will be sentenced on June 12, 2023. He will also be required to register as a sex offender.

Hoovler thanked the Orange County Child Abuse Investigation Unit and the New York State Police for their investigation and the arrest of the defendant.

“Children are the most vulnerable of victims,” said Hoovler. “It is unspeakable that an adult, in a position of trust, could violate children in this manner.  My Office, together with our law enforcement partners will never cease in our pursuit of sexual predators.  We will continue to provide support for victims of sexual assault and seek to hold offenders accountable for their actions.”
