Multiple fire departments from around the area are battling at a two-alarm fire at a grocery store in South Blooming Grove. Initial reports indicated victims were trapped inside of the building.
At 10:26am, the South Blooming Grove Fire Department responded to a building fire with reported entrapment at the Mintleaf Kosher Market, located at the corner of Route 208 and 5 Mangin Road.
As the South Blooming Grove incident commander was responding, Orange County 911 reported they were taking multiple calls about the fire. A medevac helicopter was placed on standby due to the reports of entrapment.
The incident commander arrived and reported all occupants were out of the grocery store. He discovered heavy fire activated a second alarm, summonsing help from multiple fire companies throughout the area. A water source was also established to fill tankers to bring additional water to the fire scene.
The Vail’s Gate Fire Department responded with a FAST Team aboard their rescue truck, which was tasked with staging outside to rescue any firefighters who may become trapped inside of the inferno.
The Cornwall Fire Department responded with a tanker and Cornwall-on-Hudson with a ladder truck. The Salisbury Mills Fire Department responded with a tanker, a rescue truck, and a ladder truck. The Washingtonville Fire Department responded with a pumper and a rescue truck. The Monroe Fire Department responded with a ladder truck and a tanker. The Campbell Hall, Chester, and Woodbury Fire Departments all responded with one pumper apiece.
Firefighters arrived on the scene and made entry to the grocery store. A primary search determined that everyone made it out of the building.
Firefighters are still on the scene battling the stubborn blaze.
