Jean Palumbo of the Town of Newburgh a retired teachers assistant for the Newburgh Englarged City School District an area resident for 78 years, passed away on Tuesday March 14, 2023 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital Newburgh. She was 88.
Jean is the daughter of the late Santo (Sam) Mulè and Antonia (Antoinette) nee Lena Mulè, she was born on January 14, 1935 in Flatbush Brooklyn. Jean was the widow of Fausto E. Palumbo.
Jean was a member of Patricia Court Catholic Daughters, former secretary of Beverly Hills Condo Association in Hollywood, FL, and a union rep at Temple Hill School.
She is survived by her children: Anthony Palumbo, Annita Palumbo-Rodriguez, Antointte D’Antonio, and Ginamarie (Danny) Coyne; Grandchildren: Christopher (Alicia) Gully, Fausto (Gabby) Palumbo, Alyssa Palumbo, Michael (Maria) D’Antonio, Breana Rodriguez, Nicole and Matthew Coyne; Great grandchildren: Sofia and Gianni D’Antonio and Luca Palumbo-Trues; and 4 nieces and 3 nephews.
Jean loved dressing up on weekends and going dancing with her husband.
A family statement read, “She was a true lady in every sense of the word. Loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed having Sunday dinners with her family. Going to Florida for the winter months and getting her hair done every Saturday. Mom you will be greatly missed.”
Visitation will be 5-8pm on Tuesday March 21, 2023 at Hudson Valley Funeral Home, Inc. 239 Quassaick Avenue, New Windsor, NY. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11am on Wednesday March 22, at Our Lady of the Lake Newburgh. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery New Windsor, NY.
