The SUNY Orange men’s basketball team is heading to the national tournament after clinching the East District championship title on Saturday. This is the second time in the school’s history that the team has accomplished such a feat. See the video below.
The SUNY Orange Colts have gone 29-1 on the season en route to the nationals. Their seed and placement in the brackets will be determined in the NJCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Selection Show to be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 2:00pm.
The Colts worked hard to defeat Raritan Valley Community College from New Jersey with a 79-76 victory.
“I wish Orange the best at the national tournament and congratulate the Colts on what has been a thrilling season,” said Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus.
The Colts are led by Coach Tom Rickard. The team consists of sophomores Keon Gill, Darius Boben, Romeo Aquino, Kevin Stein, Tyler Gordon, Tim Linton, and Shemar McDonald, as well as freshmen Jared Smalls, Malachi Presswood, David Jones, Jeremiah Arne, Tyreke Harewood, George Patsalos, Adriel Brathwaite, and Justin Hannibal.
