Ironworkers Union Volunteers to Install Flagpole for Veterans

The Ironworkers Local 417, located in the Hamlet of Wallkill, recently volunteered to install a new flagpole for veterans in the Town of Newburgh.

Late last year, American Legion Post 1420 Commander Duane Mickle contacted Ironworkers Local 417 President Michael Dunn to find volunteers to help install their new flagpole. Post 1420 is located on Union Avenue in the Gardnertown section of the Town of Newburgh.

Dunn, along with fellow Local 417 members Scott Weeden, Zack Conklin, and Justin Ariza, a United States Marine Corp veteran, all volunteered their time to help the Town of Newburgh veterans’ organization. The group of men dug the hole, placed rebar, and poured concrete.

Recently, the group of Ironworkers returned to remove the old flagpole and take a flag dropbox out for restoration.

American Legion Post 1420 is also the home to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1161.
