Following a successful year chock-full of events in 2022, Bannerman’s Island has announced an upcoming year full of theatrical performances, movies, self-guided tours with live music, and other events scheduled for 2023. See a video tour of Bannerman’s Island created by The Newburgh News, LLC below.
Bannerman’s Island is located on a Hudson River island between Cornwall-on-Hudson and Beacon. Although it is commonly referred to as Bannerman’s Island, the correct name is Pollepel Island. The island is occupied by a historic castle called the Bannerman’s Island Arsenal. The castle was built to hold ammunition during World War I. Part of the castle is still standing, as well as a separate residence on the island.
The property is run by the Bannerman Castle Trust, Inc., a not-for-profit “Friends” organization of volunteers working with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. The Trust is dedicated to bringing together resources and funding to stabilize the buildings and maintaining the island.
Tickets for any of the events can be purchased online at bannermancastle.org.
